1. Who we are
The controller of your data is Azogo, a subsidiary of DEUS FERREA (IFU 0202213830744, RCCM RB/ABC/22 A 82484), Benin. For any question about your data: confidentialite@azogo.africa.
This policy covers the azogo.africa website, the Azogo app (customers and artisans) and the admin and partner spaces. It complies with Law No. 2017-20 of 20 April 2018 on the Digital Code of the Republic of Benin, supervised by the Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP).
2. Data we collect
Account: name, phone number, email, profile photo, password (encrypted), language.
Jobs: trade, description and photos of the need, job address, saved places, person on site (for “for a relative” requests), quotes, messages, reviews and ratings, after-sales cases.
Location: your position, with your consent, to find nearby artisans and track the artisan’s arrival. For available artisans, their position is used to offer jobs in their area and for tracking during a job.
Payments: amounts, payment method (cash, wallet, Mobile Money), transaction references, wallet balance and loyalty points. We never store your Mobile Money PINs or card numbers.
Artisan verification: ID document, professional credentials, trades, service area, training centre if any.
Support: conversations with support (app and website chat), contact, partnership and job application forms.
Technical data: device type, app version, notification token, IP address, security logs and, depending on your choices, analytics and advertising cookies.
3. Why we use them
Providing the service (performance of the contract): creating your account, sending your request to available artisans, tracking the job, managing payment, wallet, loyalty points and after-sales.
Ensuring trust and safety (legitimate interest): verifying artisans, preventing fraud and abuse, securing accounts, resolving disputes.
Meeting legal obligations: accounting, tax, responses to authorised authorities.
Improving Azogo and communicating with you (consent or legitimate interest): audience measurement, useful notifications and reminders, offers and ad campaigns. You can object at any time.
4. Who we share them with
Between users, only what is necessary: the artisan sees your first name, the problem and the job address; the on-site person’s number is only shared once the job is accepted. The customer sees the artisan’s name, photo, rating and past work. On the website map, artisan positions are approximate and anonymous.
Partner training centres: the activity of the artisans they trained (jobs, reviews, related earnings), without your customer data.
Technical providers bound by confidentiality: server hosting, email and SMS delivery, notifications (Apple, Google, Expo), maps (OpenStreetMap), Mobile Money payment operators and, depending on your choices, Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok.
Authorities: only upon lawful request. We never sell your data.
5. Transfers outside Benin
Some providers (hosting, notifications, analytics) may process data outside Benin. Such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (contractual confidentiality and security commitments), in line with the Digital Code.
6. How long we keep them
Account: while active, then 3 years after last activity or deletion, unless legally required.
Jobs, payments and invoices: 10 years (accounting and tax obligations).
Artisan verification documents: during the relationship, then 5 years.
Support and forms: 3 years. Job applications: 2 years. Analytics and advertising cookies: 13 months maximum.
7. Security
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, data access limited to authorised staff by role, logging of sensitive access and regular backups. As no measure is infallible, we will inform you promptly of any incident affecting your data.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, delete, object to, restrict and port your data, and to withdraw your consent at any time (location in your phone settings, cookies via “Manage cookies”).
To exercise them: in the app (Profile → Information & security, including account deletion) or by email at confidentialite@azogo.africa. We reply within one month. You may also contact the APDP (www.apdp.bj).
9. Minors
Azogo is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about minors.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. For significant changes, you will be informed in the app or by email. The update date is shown at the top of this page.
